Today is my last day at the MTC. I am sad to leave this wonderful place but at the same time I am SO ready to get out there and learn with some hands on experience. Since it is our last day we get a mini P-day where we can check our emails, do laundry, and pack. We only have about three hours so I don't think my suitcase will be rolled in neat little balls like mom did for me before I left. Thats so embarassing that she packed everything for me haha =) So Saturday was my first Temple Square experience and it was quite interesting. I didn't meet my President or my trainer so I am really excited for that tomorrow. So the first thing my companion for the day says to me is, "This is only my second transfer I have no idea why they put me with you." Ha. So it was pretty lame at first. Our first assignment was to just walk around and 'street contact' but basically my comp just waved and said hello to people.' I wasn't sure what I was suppose to be doing so I just followed her around and smiled at people. After that we were at the ramp up to the Christis just letting people up and down. lame. So after those two hours I just felt so sad inside because I didn't feel like a missionary at all! So when then we had 30 more minutes to walk around before our last assignment and I kept thinking a line from Preach my Gospel in my head over and over that says, "Nothing happens in missionary work until you find someone to teach." So I just started stopping people and getting to know them and teaching them. My comp was rather surprised. I met the sweetest old lady from Florida who had never heard of the church until that day and we had a great conversation. She didn't accept the missionaries but you better believe I tried =) She will some day I'm sure.
My comp just kept saying things like "show me how its done'" and "Sister Olsen you are so bold." She almost made me feel like I was crazy or something but whatever. So our last assignment was this really neat video called "God's Plan for his Families" and not many people were coming by or wanted to see it, and I had never even seen it before so I was just praying someone would want to see it before I left. So this cute family that was a mom, dad, and 1 yr old son finally said they wanted to see it. I was so happy! So at the end I got up and bore my testimony of how the Gospel blesses families and such and the Spirit was so strong and the mother told me she was very touched. So I told them that missionaries would love to teach them more about how this message can bless their family and they said yes! Then my comp says,"But I mean, you don't have to feel pressured or anything." I looked at her like she was nuts! Then I said, well the missionaries would love to stop by and bring you a copy of this same video and discuss it with you more. And my comp said the same thing AGAIN! UGH. Finally I just said, 'All you have to do is check this box right here because the woman had already filled out her address and everything and she did. The family really did seem SO happy and touched and I can't wait for the missionaries to go and teach them. Unfortunately I'll never know how it turns out but I'll be praying for their family in the mean time. After I talked to my comp about saying that and we had a nice calm discussion about it but in my head I was thinking, "THIS IS THERE ETERNAL SALVATION WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE WOMAN!" ha. Oh well I got my way =) I hope I wasn't too controling or anything but seriously I really felt that the Spirit was directing my every move and I would not have said those things if that wasn't what my Heavenly Father wanted me to say. So left Temple Square knowing that my prayers were answered and the miracle I was praying for took place, but I also felt a little down about it as well. I just know that I am not a door greeter or a tour guide. I am a missionary. I have so much to learn and I am praying that my Trainer will be able to push me and teach me to be a better missionary. I can't wait to meet her! Sorry that was a long story! But thats pretty much it for the week =) Ashley Eckel volunteered here last night and I saw her and got to talk to her for a few minutes! It made me so happy! It was the first day I was feeling a little lonely here at the MTC, so I know it was a blessing to get to see her for those few short moments. Well I suppose everything else I will have to say in letters becuase I'm almost out of time! I love you all so very much and I really appriciate your letters. I really do feel so much love and support from my family and friends and I know I couldn't do this without you!

ohh maeg!!! what an incredible sister missionary she will be! :)
Plus, I saw her in action and she is a babe!!!! By far the most driven, spiritual, and of course cutest sister missionary I've ever seen!
i know! isn't she just wonderful??? When i was reading this email from her I was thinking, "I finally know why she was called on a mission..." she always knew, but even though I supported her, I never knew why she needed to go. She has spirit about her that only SHE has & she was put out there to touch specific people's lives. I'm so proud of her!
