Hi Family!
This had been such a wonderful week for me! I have such an amazing companion; she works so hard and has so much faith. On our first day together she said to me,"Do you always smile that big?" haha. I said 'yes' and she just laughed. Today she told me she really enjoys how happy I am and even likes my "toothpaste smile" as she calls it. I think we are making progress =) Really though, I am so happy training Sister Hofmann, I have learned so much from her.
This week we have taught people from China, India, Thailand, Japan, Philipenes, India, Ukraine, Mezico, Columbia, Germany, Switzerland, Iraq, and Egypt. It was so fun! Lots of times people come and take English tours just because they want to practice English, but they can't understand very much at all. But something I have learned this week is that it doesn't matter, because people can just feel the Spirit and know what we are saying is good and true just by being at Temple Square and hearing our testimonies. One man from the Philipenes @ the end of the tour, had a hard time expressing himself but tearfully said,"many many spirits here. peace." I love that.
One of my favorite experiences this week was when I met a couple from Pennsylvania. There was a big boxing tournament here this weekend and he is one of the refs or officials or whatever you call them. I guess there is a boxing champion who is a member of church who is a good friend of his and has told him a little about the church so he wanted to bring his wife to see Temple Square. The night before we felt we needed to talk about how Christ can help us through our struggles, not knowing who would come, and it was amazing how it was perfect. He talked about the ups and downs he had in boxing and how much he had been through in his life and I knew we were inspired in what we had planned to teach. Heavenly Father knows His children so well. At the end of the tour they asked more questions and my favorite was,"So how can I join your church?" =) As they were sitting there I thought 'I know I am suppose to just shake their hands but I just want to hug them they are so amazing!!" Next thing I know this big boxer guy in his cut off muscle shirt, looking so tough, stands up and gives me the biggest hug! haha I didn't know what to do! His wife gave me a big hug too and I just felt so happy to have met them. Sometimes after just a thirty minute tour I cry because I love the people so much, and I can't help but drop to my knees and thank my Heavenly Father for letting me meet them and share this wonderful message with them.
I hope you all have a great week and know how much I love you and pray for you!
Happy Mother's Day! Love, Maeg
